Our society is experiencing a sharp increase in the number of people who suffer from complex, chronic diseases, such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, mental illness, and autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis. The system of medicine practiced by most physicians is oriented toward acute care, the diagnosis and treatment of trauma or illness that is of short duration and in need of urgent care, such as a heart attack or a broken leg. Physicians apply specific, prescribed treatments such as drugs or surgery that aim to treat the immediate problem or symptom. Western Medicine made huge strides forward 100+ years ago when funding from large foundations was switched to exclusively supporting that form of medical education. At the time, the predominant type of illnesses were infectious diseases, which responded very well to silver bullet intervention.

Unfortunately, the acute-care approach to medicine is ill-equipped to address complex, chronic diseases. In most cases, the model does not take into account the unique genetic makeup of each individual and does not allow time for exploring the aspects of today’s lifestyle that have a direct influence on the rise in chronic disease in modern Western society; critical environmental factors such as stress, diet, and exposure to toxins. As a naturopathic physician practicing in BC, Dr. Heald is authorized to prescribe pharmaceuticals as needed while addressing lifestyle factors.

Functional Medicine is a different approach, with methodology and tools specifically designed to prevent and treat chronic diseases. By shifting the traditional disease-centred focus of medical practice to a more patient-centred approach, Functional Medicine addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms. Functional Medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and complex, chronic disease. In this way, Functional Medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual. It switches the balance of responsibility for wellness from the provider of care to the beneficiary (you, the patient!).

Naturopathic Medicine begins with a scientific approach to understanding the human body and employs the body’s inert ability to heal itself using medicines found in nature to initiate the process.

Primum non nocere | First, do no harm
This is part of an oath that all doctors take. Having a solid understanding of the human body, dis-ease and in-depth knowledge of the proposed treatment is essential. Naturopathic Doctors must be educated at accredited Medical Schools (see www.cnme.org) and continue to study throughout their careers.

Vis Medicatrix Naturae | The healing power of nature
The human body is magical in its ability to regenerate. The cause of illness or obstacle to cure must be determined and removed. During the healing process, natural substances such as vitamins, minerals and herbs are used to correct imbalances.

Tollem causum | Treat the underlying cause
Treating symptoms is necessary to provide comfort, but without addressing the cause, the disease process will continue and manifest in another way. Turning up the volume on the radio only masks the rattle in the engine for so long.

Tollem totale | Treat the whole person
Physical symptoms can be aggravated or caused by social or emotional stresses, and emotional upset can have very physical causes. To obtain wellness, consideration must be given to all components of an individual.

Docere | Teacher
The Latin derivation of doctor translates to teacher. Giving a person an understanding of illness and wellness empowers them to make the changes necessary to live healthfully.

BCST is an amazing tool in the path towards embodiment and grounding.
Sometimes pain is simply a result of long-held patterns that have been locked in the tissues and, at the right time, these patterns can be released. We believe that with the right, gentle, hands-on treatment, health can begin to restore itself and symptoms may start to dissipate.

Our counsellors practice from a place of non-judgement and deeply believe that helping their clients find HOPE is the first step towards growth and change.

We are all at different points on our healing journeys. Sometimes we just need a reminder of the internal and community resources we already have available, a few new tools to work with, and a reminder that we are going to be okay.

Social Work approach to practice is rooted in a number of theoretical perspectives and models, including:

Reconnection Therapy is rooted in somatic counselling and is about allowing your truth and experience to be witnessed. Foundations are placed between the therapist and client, to create a grounded, safe, honouring, and supported relationship. You are the author of your life, and in that, you are also the one who knows the ways through it. Your therapist will ask questions, may lead visualizations/meditations, and... these are all from a place rooted in trust of You, and that what you need to move forward, heal etc. is within you. Sometimes as humans, we need support, questions, guidance, offerings of perspective... and when it comes down to it, being witnessed, and seen, and honoured, often has the potential to spontaneously unfurl and unfold more of self. And when/where hooks, pain, trauma, confusion etc. arise, an array of support gets intuitively woven between you and the therapist, to free the stuck/blocked energy, and allow the knowings, learnings, and gifts that surface, to flow into your life, and be (re)integrated into who You are. Techniques such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Emotional Release Therapy (ERT), Flower Essence Therapy (FET), Aromatherapy, Herbal Medicine, Self Retrieval... may be used along the way. Being truly seen is one of the most precious gifts and experiences as a human.

May you be graced with that opportunity, in both the witness and in the witnessing.

Hakomi Mindful Somatic Psychology offers an elegant, comprehensive, and uniquely effective approach to psychotherapy, growth and change. Originated by Ron Kurtz in the early 1980s, Hakomi integrates Eastern principles of nonviolence and mindfulness with a comprehensive and experiential body-centered methodology. The Hakomi Institute has further developed these innovative techniques in response to ongoing discoveries in neuroscience and other fields related to our work.

For 40 years, Hakomi has pioneered the psychodynamic use of mindfulness in the therapeutic process. Instead of using mindfulness solely as an adjunct to therapy, a significant portion of each Hakomi session is conducted with the client in mindfulness. This profoundly deepens the client’s ability to recognize and work with emotionally-charged psychological material.

Hakomi practitioners use the body as a map of the psyche – a door that can be gently opened to surface clients’ implicit memories and reveal their entire unconscious belief system. The body’s structures and habitual patterns, such as gestures and posture, become powerful indicators that provide subtle access routes to evocative unconscious core material.

Hakomi’s integration of mindfulness and somatics creates an experiential route to the precise psychological core material at the root of clients’ unwanted psychological patterns and behavior. This, deepens therapy beyond insight and words, allowing us to access the unconscious “blueprints” and early experiences that invisibly guide our clients’ lives, relationships, and self-perceptions.

Attachment issues and the experiences that created them are often strong components of core material, and Hakomi is particularly effective in working with these. When unconscious, this hidden core material creates projections, conflict and disharmony in our relationships and inner lives. Once conscious and directly experienced, these patterns are available for transformation and re-integration.

Hakomi is paradoxically powerful: it is gentle and nonviolent, yet yields dramatic and rapid results. Its highly experiential approach evokes a deep “felt sense” that allows clients to take genuine ownership of their core material, its transformation, and resulting changes. Hakomi embraces Frieda Fromm Reichman’s belief that “the patient needs an experience, not an explanation.”

The healing relationship is also central to Hakomi. Although research has shown that the practitioner’s inner state is one of the most significant factors impacting therapeutic success, few healing methods address the practitioner’s inner development in sufficient depth. By intentionally shifting into expanded states of consciousness like mindfulness and loving presence, Hakomi practitioners develop an exquisite sensitivity and attunement to others. Hakomi training facilitates the emergence of the “essence” of the practitioner, allowing us to track deeper levels conscious and unconscious material, communicate about it more effectively, reduce client resistance and create a deeper sense of safety and connection with ourselves and others.

Current neuroscience research has confirmed the basis for many foundational aspects of Hakomi, including the effectiveness of mindfulness, loving presence, empathic attunement, limbic resonance, and memory reconsolidation, As we work with core developmental trauma, Hakomi provides what Ron Kurtz called the “missing experience”, a deep and transformational process for the client. This profoundly moving experience heals developmental trauma by rewiring neural pathways and reconsolidating implicit memories in ways that can support the individual to open to new and more satisfying experiences.

Hakomi can be combined with a wide spectrum of therapeutic approaches. It’s effective for both brief and long-term therapy in a wide range of applications including working with individuals, couples, groups and organizations. Coaches, spiritual counsellors, bodyworkers, educators and other helping professionals have also found Hakomi’s principles and practices a useful adjunct to their work.

Live Blood Analysis using Darkfield microscopy reveals the consistencies and inconsistencies, micro-organisms that lurk in the plasma, a compromised digestive system, an overworked liver or poor circulation. It confirms the existence of inflammation within the body therefore validating your aches and pains, and list of uncomfortable and nagging symptoms, however small. Protein absorption and vitamin/mineral deficiencies are evident by the shapes of blood cells and the integrity of cell walls. Just like in a swimming pool, if the pH is out of balance, you end up with a very unhealthy environment.

When the flow of the "Life Force Energy" is disrupted, weakened or blocked, health problems tend to occur. Imbalances can be caused from many situations occurring in our lives, such as: emotional or/and physical or/and chemical stressors and trauma.

Reiki is an excellent healing aid to combat physical, mental, emotional, chemical and spiritual issues of any kind and can give wonderful results, restoring harmonious balance to your health, well-being, vitality and quality of life.

Reiki allows for a state of deep relaxation and aids the body to release the stress and tension disrupting the life force energy (“Qi or Chi”). It accelerates the body's self-healing abilities and restorative processes of underlying acute and chronic problems, can help with regulatory processes and can also help relieve pain and symptoms, whereby removing energy blockages by reorganizing the energy flow, bringing the body back into balance and harmony. Reiki assists the body in cleansing itself from toxins and blockages and helps the body to rejuvenate as well as supporting the body's natural state eco-system/s and functions. Reiki raises the vibrational frequency of the body and helps with physical processes, spiritual growth and emotional clarity.

When we are relaxed, stress and interference-free, we are able to restore our natural ability to self-heal, evolve and thrive. Long term practice of whole-body Reiki can restore and replenish the general condition of the body. It can open the energy channels and this will allow the body to deal appropriately and naturally with stress, tension, pain, symptoms and build-up of toxins in the physical, emotional and spiritual body. When a person is in good health and homeostasis, continued regular Reiki sessions can furthermore increase the bodies innate built-in defenses and support further resilience and dynamic wellness.

A Reiki healing session can induce an extremely comfortable state of being that can bring alteration in the client’s consciousness. If also used as a complementary healing modality in conjunction with other natural holistic therapies and vitalistic lifestyle choices, Reiki can reinforce their effectiveness.

Reiki healing complements Eastern and Western medicine and everybody can benefit from it. It is known to be beneficial to the health of all ages and stages of life; women (even pregnant), men, and children and it is also excellent when used on animals, plants, water, etc. Reiki healing energy is a resource for use at any moment, anytime, anywhere for on-the-spot stress release, pain relief and revitalize energy flow.

The combination of techniques used, work to invite more flow, realignment of self, clarity in life and re-connection with one’s essence.

Sound Healing works with all aspects of one’s being – spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical – working at a cellular level to bring back into harmony that which is out of tune.
Sound therapy facilitates shifts in brainwave state via entrainment, the synchronisation of brainwaves to sound frequencies. This makes it possible to down-shift from the normal Beta state (alert consciousness), through the Alpha state (relaxed consciousness), into Theta states (the meditative state), and to even reach Delta states (sleep, where natural healing occurs). Reaching these states of awareness stimulates emotional and physical release of trauma (energies of stagnation and dis-ease), which in turn promote natural healing. A sound bath feels like a spa treatment for your soul. Bathing in the frequencies of healing sounds is like getting a massage for your mind, body, and spirit.

Reiki is a well-known Japanese healing technique used to enhance vitality, move and clear energy and promote living a more balanced life. It includes hands-on healing as well as energy field healing. Energy work restores harmony to the client's energy field and may be experienced as relaxing, restorative, refreshing, or invigorating.

Thai Massage combines acupressure, energy-line work, assisted yoga postures, muscle compression and meditation to provide a deeply touching, relaxing and rejuvenating treatment. Thai Massage stimulates and balances the flow of energy within the body, bringing the person deeper into balance and harmony for health, happiness and well-being.

We spend at least a third of our day working, and if we’re not enjoying our work it can have a negative effect on our physical, mental and emotional well-being. Saying ‘Yes’ when you really want to say ‘No’ can have a huge impact on your energy levels and can lead to stress overload and burnout. We all want to feel like we are contributing and often we don’t get to express the fullness of who we are which can feel like there is something missing in our life. Even if we have carved out a career we like and we’re on our way to success, we can get roadblocked. This can show up in the form of feeling like you’ve hit a wall, something changes that you had no control over, and you persist anyway continuing to do what you’ve always done confused about what else you can do. Sometimes it is just :me to move on and you’re afraid to go because you don’t know what else you want to do. Understanding how your energy works and how you’re uniquely designed to contribute so that work can be fulfilling is what I can help you with using the tools and techniques of BG5 – Human Design for Career & Business.

BG5 provides a blueprint for our true nature and how we’ve been nurtured in our lives, often away from who we really are. We get distracted by our shadows and fears and the conditioning we’ve received from well-meaning family, friends, and society. We’ve forgotten who we are because the systems we have created to help us survive demand that we play a specific role in them that pulls out of us only what the system needs with no concern for our individual desires. This is how the hidden mechanics of groups work and BG5 makes us aware of how this is affecting us so we can take advantage of it instead of being taken advantage of. I’ve learned how to set healthy boundaries and follow my own inner guidance system with the practical knowledge of BG5.

I’m passionate about helping others discover and connect with their authenticity and see how they might be getting tossed around in life so they can relax and watch the movie instead of getting caught up in the drama. I encourage each of us to ‘seek first to understand, then be understood’ by the people in our lives to create more respect, empathy, and support for how unique each of us is. When you understand your own design, you can see the complexity of how each of us does things differently (there are literally no two of us the same in 8 billion). Understanding the dynamics at play between individuals and within small and large groups is what I bring awareness to so that you can find a career that really fulfills you, doing what you are designed for regenerating your energy instead of burning yourself out.

Astrology

Astrology is the study of the correlation between celestial objects and earthly events.

It is with great love, care and passion that I practice Craniosacral Therapy. For in these areas we find less intellectual understanding of the treatment and we release into the mysterious, deepest healing process. I am a practitioner who believes that the greater the pain you had to endure, the wiser and more alive you can become. Your struggle is full of opportunity.

I initially trained in osteopathy in Buenos Aires (Argentina) at the Centro de Estudios Osteopáticos de Buenos Aires; and upon graduation I moved to Canada to study biodynamic craniosacral therapy in BC, through Body Intelligence. Altogether, I have been practicing cranial work for over 10 years, and have recently begun offering CST workshops in the Cowichan Valley.

I specialize in cranial and dental trauma and dysfunctions (concussions, head and brain injuries, dental interventions, migraines, TMJ issues, teeth grinding and more). However, my practice is open to all types of issues or concerns, including surgeries, accidents, structural/musculoskeletal restrictions, physiological dysfunctions, emotional and physical trauma, and more.

Please note that no injury is too old to be treated. Powerful treatment can be provided to help with childhood trauma and in-utero and birth experiences. As this work is extremely gentle, it can be very helpful with babies and children, pregnancy, postpartum, and elders. This kind of therapy does not look to fix things or impose changes on your body. During the treatment, while you’re laying on the massage table, I will gently map whole body patterns and locate tensions. As we progress, the treatment will focus on certain areas of the body. The touch is gentle, respectful and extremely precise. The client typically falls into a deep state of relaxation.

It is typically recommended to receive 3 initial treatments, which can be spaced out a couple/a few weeks apart (depending on the clients needs). This will allow us to delve much deeper into any tensions you may have. Acute cases may present differently, and may require more ongoing attention.

As one of the fathers of osteopathy said: “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to watch you heal yourself.”

We work with HR, leaders and individuals to show an organization how individuals can be seen for who they are within a company so they can contribute their full potential instead of being put into a contrived role that holds them back.

I’ve had a foot in each world - business and health/healing/wellness and was often torn between them – my heart wanting to move into the healing world and my ego (fears) keeping me in the world of business. I have lived the experience that a lot of others have faced, hiding their true self for fear of rejection. It’s been an incredible journey and I am grateful for everything I experienced that taught me how difficult it’s been for people to truly ‘be’ themselves.

I’ve accepted that everything I’ve done in my life has been valuable and necessary for where I am right now. I’m so happy to be working with others to help you heal, discover your own innate uniqueness, and help you give yourself permission to be fully you.

Healing Touch

Each treatment is personalized to facilitate your recovery and to help you achieve your health and wellness goals. EVERY BODY WELCOME. Some of the massage techniques we use to create your treatment plan are listed below:

Swedish Massage is a type of massage that involves manipulating the soft tissues of the body to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve overall wellbeing. The massage is performed with the client lying typically unclothed on a massage table, under a sheet or blanket, but only the area being worked on is uncovered at any given time. The provider uses a combination of long, flowing strokes, kneading, and may apply deeper pressure to specific areas of tension or pain to work the muscles and connective tissues of the body.

Deep Tissue Massage targets deeper muscle layers using firm pressure and slow strokes to alleviate tension, chronic pain, and muscle knots. The provider may use elbows, forearms, and body weight to apply pressure, which can be intense. It benefits those with chronic pain, sports injuries, limited mobility, posture issues, and stress or anxiety, but it’s important to consult with your healthcare provider before getting a deep tissue massage if you have any underlying medical conditions or concerns.

Myofascial Release is a manual technique that releases tension in the fascia, the connective tissue that supports muscles. It uses gentle, sustained pressure and stretching techniques to improve mobility and function, and can be done on specific areas of the body or the body as a whole. It can help relieve pain and treat conditions like back pain, neck pain, and headaches.

Trigger Point Release is a form of manual massage that focuses on identifying and releasing tight knots of muscle fibers that can cause pain and discomfort. During a trigger point release session, the provider uses a variety of manual techniques to identify and release these knots, such as applying pressure or stretching the affected muscle fibers to help release tension.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle technique that stimulates the lymphatic system, aiding in immune function, fluid balance, and waste removal. Therapists use light, rhythmic strokes to promote lymph flow, reducing swelling and supporting post-surgery recovery while enhancing overall well-being.

Remedial Exercise involves the therapist gently moving and manipulating the client’s body with and without any active effort from the patient. This technique aims to improve joint flexibility, alleviate tension, and enhance muscle function. It’s especially helpful for those with limited mobility, recovering from injuries, or seeking to enhance overall flexibility.

About Ronén

I’m one of the very lucky ones in many aspects. I come from a coastal town and a loving middle-class Argentinian family. My daughter, she is my world and the biggest force of love I’ve ever felt. I’m very fortunate to have never experienced homelessness, hunger, childhood trauma or systemic discrimination. I’m in good physical, mental and spiritual health.

All throughout my life I’ve been closely related to and interested in healthcare. My dad was a Family Physician, he did public work and also had a home-based practice. Later in life I worked as a Medical Emergencies Ambulance Dispatcher before leaving Argentina in the year 2000.

In 2011 I left Winnipeg and moved to the Island looking to re-connect with the ocean. Feeling the need to spend more time outdoors, I started my own gardening business. After a day of very hard labour, I couldn’t move without feeling extreme pain. Lucky me, I went to see an RMT and she had me like new in just a couple of sessions. Since that experience, I continued receiving RMT treatments and I’ve been inspired and fascinated with the power Massage Therapy has to heal and improve people’s quality of life.

This fascination grew to the point where I decided to change careers, enroll in the program to become an RMT and help the people in my community lead a healthier life through holistic practices and stronger, more meaningful human connections.

I’m currently a very proud graduate student from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. The school has a clinic where I’ve been providing non-registered massage therapy to the general public. I’m also a member of the Registered Massage Therapy Association of British Columbia.

I truly believe in the whole-person approach to massage therapy, where science meets a deep understanding of how our bodies work. When massage therapists grasp this complete picture, they can provide safe, effective, and personalized treatments that go beyond just physical relief.

By considering the emotional and spiritual aspects as well, therapists can connect with their clients on a deeper level and create healing experiences that bring balance to both body and mind. This collaborative approach also encourages open communication with other healthcare professionals, ensuring that individuals receive comprehensive and holistic care for their overall well-being.

Dr. Holly Hochstadt is a vitalistic chiropractor. She recognizes that the human body has an innate ability to heal itself, and that chiropractic care helps remove interference to our inborn healing capacity, allowing for a fuller expression of health and vitality. She believes that health includes our physical, emotional, social, mental (and even spiritual) well being. Her philosophy of care is to address the root cause of your health concerns, rather than just treating symptoms.

Dr. Holly cares for people of all ages and stages of life, from newborn to end-of-life. She works with laborers, desk workers, homemakers, athletes, performers, and people recovering from any health challenge, illness, injury, or loss. She also provides chiropractic care to women throughout the perinatal period. She is trained in the Webster Technique to support pregnant women in optimizing pelvic mobility before and during pregnancy.

After graduating from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon in 1995, she practiced in the heart of Seattle for 24 years, and then continued in an agricultural community in Southern Alberta for 4 years. She joyfully returned to the West Coast in 2023, and is enjoying exploring our region with her partner and her hiking groups. She loves gardening, cooking, reading, kirtan, and building community.

Dr. Holly offers a wide range of chiropractic adjusting approaches, including traditional manual chiropractic, drop table, instruments, and tonal BGI chiropractic. She has practiced Bio-Geometric Integration (BGI) since 2000. This tonal style of chiropractic assesses how the body is storing tension from past overloads, where the body is ready to process tension, and then uses gentle fingertip pressure to facilitate the body in accessing, unwinding, and integrating it. Her goal is always to find the best method for each client, to assist their healing and expressing more of their full potential in life and in the world.

She recognizes that while healing happens largely from the inside-out, it is also affected by outside-in factors. She is a firm believer in empowering her clients through education and in taking an active role in their own health. She provides educational resources and support to help her clients on this path, including recommendations for nutrition, supplements, specific exercises for the physical body, or methods to support the parasympathetic nervous system in grounding and healing. Dr. Holly is committed to providing personalized and compassionate care to every client. She works to create a treatment plan that fits each person’s specific needs and goals.

Dr. Holly values integrity, compassion, connection, and caring for each client like a beloved family member. She is grateful to support the Cowichan Valley community on the path of expressing health and human potential.

After moving to Canada in 2002, I became a Registered Cardiology Technologist and then pursued advanced training as an Adult Echocardiographer. As a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, I enjoyed a wonderful career in Cardiology and Heart Health and never lost the amazement and appreciation for the human body and its complex systems.

After almost 15 years working in acute care settings with patients continually struggling with their heart health, I began to question the conventional medical model. I wanted to be able to help people to heal and find freedom, not just stay reliant on the conventional medical system. I realized that I was a part of a system that addresses a single part of the body and does not recognize the body as a whole.

This led me to studying functional medicine as a Registered Orthomolecular Healthcare Practitioner and Nutritional Consultant. It became clear to me that many diseases could be prevented by dietary and lifestyle changes. I discovered that wellness could be achieved without pharmaceuticals or a blind reliance on conventional approaches.

As I began to grow in my understanding of holistic health, I grew increasingly interested in Homeopathy. I discovered that hundreds of millions of people rely upon Homeopathic medicines around the world and was drawn to how this 200-year-old form of alternative medicine was able to stimulate a gentle healing response that allowed the body to come back into balance. Breaking free from the fear and reliance on a conventional model allows us to regain our trust in our bodies to know how to heal. Therein lies the freedom to be truly alive.

I completed the Practitioner’s Program to be a Certified Clinical Homeopath at the American Medical College of Homeopathy in Arizona (AMCoH) and have seen first-hand how Homeopathy can help people live well and find vitality in health. I hope that my experiences in conventional medicine coupled with my training in functional and integrative health can offer hope and healing to others.

I am an astrologer originally from Japan. I was brought up in a household where daily life included shinto practices, honouring of ancestors, and ceremony. I have been learning and practising astrology since 2008 though I was first introduced at the age of ten.

It has immensely helped me to understand my life circumstances, where I came from and what I’m moving toward. I see Astrology as a map in this vast ocean of life. Often we feel lost in the immensity of it all, and astrology gives insight to help us find our way. It also gives perspective and understanding of how cycles play out in our lives, and how best to work with them to increase our personal growth and enjoyment of life.

My astrology practice draws mainly from Hellenistic Tradition, and is complemented by a variety of earth medicine practices and ceremonial work. Although my work is often aware of the celestial bodies it is deeply rooted in these earth practices.

I honour love, truth, and integrity and my mission is to be of service in my community, and to guide and empower people through their journeys.

Hi, I’m Graeme

I spent 20 long years living the corporate life and I understand what it feels like to be stuck and unfulfilled. As the sole income earner for my family, the pressure was immense. We needed the money and the benefits were great for our growing family, but I felt empty inside.

It wasn’t until I learned that my frustration with life was a result of feeling joyless and aimless, that with coaching, I could create a new clear focus.

I now dedicate my time to helping other people who feel stuck find purpose and fulfillment. That doesn’t always mean radical change like leaving your job; it means discovering that there’s more to life than work, and learning how to balance your well-being so you can focus on your goals and living your life purpose.

I am very excited to share the deeply relaxing, nurturing and complexion boosting practices of facial massage and facial fitness with whoever feels drawn to work with me. I offer these modalities because I use them, love them and believe they have much to offer to modern women and men. Most people understand the positive impact of exercise and massage on the body but don’t apply these same ideas to the face. However, the face holds tension, facial muscles atrophy and so benefit from bodywork and exercise just the same. During massage and exercise the tissues of the face are nourished due to increased circulation and oxygenation which leads to improved appearance and function.

After receiving and loving my first facial massage in 2019 I decided to train in the discipline. That led to the discovery and training in facial fitness so that I could offer a concrete way for one to become aware of their facial muscles. Our face actually informs us about how to feel so it is important to first be aware of the muscular tension held in the face and then once it is appropriate to do so- dispel it. Sometimes we need a bit of assistance to do that. When we tune into how our face feels, where it is holding tension, we are tuning into how we feel. An increased awareness of facial tension is a gentle way to begin to work with our emotions through the face. Think about what our face does all day, it expresses how we feel all day, no wonder we can affect the way we feel by expressing affection back to our face.

I am here for the spectrum of reasons one might want to work with me. Maybe you are feeling extra stressed out, maybe you have a big presentation or event or maybe your sinuses are clogged. Maybe you are a mom and, like me, you feel like parts of yourself got lost along the way. Maybe you see past trauma written all over your face and want to write a new story.

Originally from Fresno, California I have done many things from journalism to urban tree planting to solo work along the river. I draw from each of my experiences to inform me along this new path.

My hope is that after a session together you feel nurtured, relaxed and ready to face the world.

I’m an Acupuncturist raised and educated on Vancouver Island. My interest in health and desire to enjoy a meaningful life inspired my career choice. I was first introduced to eastern healing arts as a child, by my mother’s practice of Jin Shin Do (Japanese Acupressure). In adolescence, I developed an interest in martial arts which is with me to this day. I enrolled in Oshio College’s Acupuncture Program in 2014 and later became an instructor at the school.

I routinely treat a broad range of conditions, and enjoy the process of treating simple and difficult conditions alike. It’s my goal to help relieve and prevent suffering, and to help people find a sense of freedom and empowerment, both in their health and in all aspects of their life. Through study and practice, I continue to hone my skills and gather new tools to provide pleasant treatments with great results.

I’m committed to professional integrity, and always intent on giving the most beneficial treatment possible. I consider acupuncture as a tool to help coordinate the body in healing itself. We have all witnessed our own amazing self-healing abilities. The goal of my treatment is to simply tip the scales in your favour.

In the treatment room, I integrate laser (photobiomodulation therapy) massage and acupressure, cupping, moxibustion, and basically whatever we figure will be most helpful and appropriate for you. I am honoured to ally with the other practitioners of TAOH to support the health of this community.

Outside of the clinic, I am blessed to live with my wife, Mika, and our young daughter. I have a background in visual arts , and maintain a slow but steady visual art and martial arts practice.

Let’s Shift together through Hypnotherapy and Intuitive Medium Readings!

I have worked as a Disability Employment Advisor for over 12 years and noticed the same thing over and over again. People who came into my office were suffering from past trauma. Whether that be from their family life, work life or other areas of life. They were stuck and I wanted to do more. This is why I became a Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist.

I have also been blessed with a gift of being an intuitive medium and have been doing readings professionally and for friends for the last 20 years. As a medium having family members come through has allowed many to find closure. Seeing people transform from the readings, I have now added Hypnotherapy to my practice. My life purpose and drive is to help people live their best lives and let go of that which does not serve them. I personally have transformed through hypnotherapy and I have helped others do the same.

I am excited to help you uncover blocks, barriers or triggers that are no longer serving you. As a medium I connect with your guides, angels, and family who have crossed over. As a hypnotherapist we are able to dive deeper working with your subconscious allowing you let go and rewrite your story.

The many benefits of hypnotherapy include:

Pain Management Anxiety, Stress, Panic Attacks, Weight Loss, Changing Habits and Grief
